Embracing whimsy

First of all, a fact: no matter what you believe in, you have only this one life in this form and existing this way on Earth. And if you’re going to enjoy this weird, totally bamboozling experience then you’re going to need to embrace whimsy.

Engage in tomfoolery.

Leave your care for other people’s opinions at the door and come frolicking with the rest of us.

The best part of all of this is that nobody actually care what you do. The only reason why you think they do is because you probably haven’t. deleted social media yet.

Here’s a secret from someone who has: life’s a hell of a lot more fun and interesting when you’re not spending all your time worried about how many people want to live vicariously through you.

Now, go do some living!

What does embracing whimsy look like? I hear you ask.

Well darling, it looks like whatever you want it to.

For me it looks like buying myself a nice iced coffee once a week, singing along to the radio in my car, having my loose leaf tea once a day, sitting at window seats in cafes so I can watch the world bumble past me, waving to dogs, enjoying a proper filter coffee each morning, buying myself nice bouquets of flowers, standing listening to the birds, learning Latin, stargazing, sitting in a tree to eat my lunch when I don’t have too long a skirt on and reading all the cosy, happy ending fiction books I can get my hands on.

Whimsy isn’t loud or expensive; it’s silly fun that makes life more pleasant on a daily basis.

Try it without documenting it and watch your life change.
